French court says site cannot grade teachers

A potentially rude american

Respecting your culture is something many Americans, myself included, have trouble doing since we have very little exposure to it. I can drive for 10 hours and cross 5 or 6 states and never really see any essential differences from where I live. You are on the other hand are capable of doing the same travel and experiencing complete diverse cultures. I for one envy you the opprotunity to know and understand many cultures.

However, I believe that people are basically honest and given the opprotunity they will give you an answer that is what they honestly believe. This includes children. This maybe an American cultural blind spot and be completely untrue in other cultures.

Nevertheless, web sites that allow people to share their opinions are a valuable tool for all web users. As someone said in one of the other posts free speach is not license to yell fire in a crowded theater just to cause panic. By the same token keeping quiet when there is a fire and quietly leaving without a word is not right either.

In my opinion, the French courts and have done a disservice to the French people. I think the teacher's union will live to regret the stand they have taken. It sends a message to all their students as to what value see in the future generation of the French country.

Values and respect do not just happen because your live to be certain age be it 18 or 21 years or whatever. It is something you grow up with and constantly practice with the support of your peers and family. Children should not be growing up in a vaccumn they should have their support group of Teachers, parents and respected members of community all doing thier part in help children become valued members of the community.
