French Court was ethically in the wrong
Education is a commodity. Teachers are the ones who produce it. Students are the consumers. As consumers, they have the right to express dissatisfaction with the product in a public area.

One principal and a couple of teacher peers are not going to be any more unbiased in their evaluation of an other teacher than the students are. And the students certainly have a far greater amount of observation of a teacher's behavior and methodology than any of the other administrators in a school.

But then again, children are always treated as second class citizens, except when it's in the self-interest of others to treat them differently. Les Miserables indeed!
