People prefer to pirate Windows
because ignorance is bliss, and they feel they got something for nothing when they avoided the price tag.

There's also the "comfort zone" angle, like when people wear brand labels.

But a lot of it is mediocre people who's brains are work well enough to learn Windows swanning around and passing themselves off as IT literate to those less educated than themselves. You know, the No_Ax'es in life.
