Absolutely - or Make What They Have Work
Look, I'm pretty public in my loathing of MSFT - but even I've tried using their own search engine, discussion groups, e-mail, "cloud computing" apps and targeted ad platform. I don't personally like them (or the policies and tendencies of the megalith they're attached to, more importantly), but I recall there's nothing inherently wrong w/any of them, and indeed some excellent stuff that could be built upon by The World's Biggest, Meanest Monopoly if they were inclined towards customer quality rather than Owning Everything.

OTOH, a big part of me feels like I do listening to the right-wing talk radio fatheads spewing vitriol over the chance of John McCain being the Republican Presidential nominee - barely restrained glee at the sight of the NeoKon Bush Nazi Khrister Right Wing tearing itself to shreds! If Darth Ballmer wants to beggar M$ by throwing scads of money at a second-tier search engine with some nice extras they can't seem to monetize (like Yahoo Groups and Flickr), then let him! I will dance upon his aging bully's grave....
