Google does not want the deal to go thru
Your last paragraph is a joke, missing reality completelly; you seem to think that your thought process is on the level of those running google. This is not some simple game at stake here, it is google's future. You say they are smirking, I see them as wetting their pants a bit.

Anyone would truelly be considered clueles if they think Microsoft knows zero about Linux. They have worked with Novell and others with Linux, and I am sure they have some very talented Linux developer on payroll, and in truth are years ahead of anyone else when it comes to Windows/Linux interoperability as they have the Windows code.

Microsoft and Yahoo would not be in disarray as to Microsoft, this is probally just another software venture, that is all. No changing of servers, no engineers leaving, no culture clash, let them do what they do best with more muscle and opportunity then they had before.

And with Google losing a third of thier market value in the past 8 weeks, they may be slowing down on their datacebter builds as their main need for them (google apps, storage, ect) really have not taken off to expectations.

No Google is not doing this for the reasons you tell yourself they are, they see real competition. Look at their stock value after missing estimates by 1 cent! Can you imagine what would happen to their stock if an MS?Yahoo deal caused the loss of even 1 percent of their revenue?
