- Ad-supported content is okay, as long as there is *some* content
-
There are a number of "services" out there that purport to be ad-supported, but they mostly lack any reasonable content. You get bombarded by all sorts of intrusive advertising, only to find that there isn't any meat in the sandwich. For the ones that do have a little content, the interface is so clunky as to discourage any real use of the site. It's a non-starter for me.
The media cartels have to deal with the fact that they are losing the revenue stream that relies on customers paying for the same thing MULTIPLE TIMES. You know: paying for a movie ticket, then a DVD, then a cable subscription, then PPV, then a web download, then indirectly via ad-supported network TV, ad nauseum. In the digital age, the tools to allow end-users are at hand to purchase, manage, and consume content at their own convenience, not the convenience of the media company. The cartels have ignored or fought against this concept, but they are bound to lose against the march of technical progress and user sophistication. - Posted by: terry flores Posted on: 01/25/08 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
