Plagiarism is good ...
"I think the majority of students who engage in plagiarism do it more out of ignorance than the desire to cheat. They really want to succeed on their own merit."

Here's the issue: you go through school being told that plagiarism is a bad thing, taking credit for someone else's work.

Then you get into the workplace, where the watchwords are reusability and knowledge management. "Don't reinvent the wheel, efficiency, efficiency, efficiency."

It's no wonder that students get mixed up. Yes, there are the ignorant and the intentionally deceitful, but there are also many who do not understand the "academic rules" and the basis behind them.
