RE: Album sales plunge while digital growth slows
I think the point is that the music industry needs digital downloads to replace album sales exactly to continue to grow, but with the rate of growth within digital slowing, all signs point to this not happening. Therefore, the PROJECTION is of continued shrinkage and that is not going to make shareholders happy, they will sell and the industry would suffer shrinkage. The first question any investor asks is, 'is this a growth industry, is it mature, or is it on the decline.'

But make no mistake I think the RIAA is a bunch of idiots who deserve everything they get. The bands I listen to don't need oodles of cash to make excellent music, either.
