Can social networking co-exist with the workplace?

I cannot believe these posts are sincere

In this day and age of email and cell phones, you are trying to convince us that Social Networking sites are the best forms of contact? I call BS!
As the person who manages our content filter, I can assure you that giving employees access will reduce productivity. There are about 5-10% of our employees who will take advantage of anything you let them have. These are the low end employees, but they still play a crucial role in our business.
We have seen call center mistakes drop and faster responses and shorter calls since we minimized access for these workers. Apparently, not everyone can focus on facebook and communicate on the phone at the same time.

I have yet to see one valid use of these social networking sites that doesn't have the same capability withing a corporate environment.
