Is this a troll?
Companies banned internet access to sites like this and also internet email services for legitmate business reasons. Doing things for a business reason is perfect justification for these policies. And I'd like access to my email as much as the next guy. Too bad. As for the business aspects of social networking, many business already have this in the traditional forms of social networking. It even has a name, its been called the "Good Old Boy" network since before the Personal Computer was invented. Now people in the Good old Boy network use those modern tools of email, desk phones and Cell phones in their business 'social' networks to answer the needs of modern business.

Lets not make this something its not. Social networking was STARTED in the workplace. I belong to two professional organizations that are social networking at its finest. And we didn't need any lawyers to make it happen. And no advertising is sold (well some, we do have a Magazine or three) based on click counts. No, our social networks are non-profits.
The profits come to employees and employers. Most business' I know have it in their policy that if you have a business case that requires access to certain websites, open your mouth and explain it.
