about how much artists get paid

Why do you think there is never any news about artists going after pirates? It's only the record companies. Artists (the ones who make the music and deserves the credit/rewards) actually make their money off of t-shirts and ticket sales at shows. Its actually better for the artists if people pirate their music because a person is more likely to listen to them and then go to the show to see it live. Its common knowledge that BD,HDdvd, etc cost pennies to make but they want to charge 30+ dollars for them its crazy. I'm not saying piracy is acceptable but with rising costs of gas,food, utilities, neccesities more and more people will pirate simply because they don't have the extra cash anymore.
