if the law were "free". However, to obtain a legal "opinion" from a court runs the risks of the other guy's fees. If there were a way to unthread the process of obtaining a legal opinion from the cost of the case, then a person without much money could pursue their rights, obtain the opinion, defend their patent, and then run their case.
