Of course. Offsite backups are not optional. Even if the hosting provider promises 99.9% availability and onsite backups, you should not trust them. A couple of my clients have lost their servers data in the past (including CRM and ERP data) just because they believed the promises from their hosting providers. Since then, they keep a weekly offsite backup.

Better safe than sorry.
