Linux and Sun Java Rule: Applets rule: the road wasn't taken
This article is like a ostrich sticking its head in the sand. Android is a slam dunk in the mobile market. Resistance is futile. It is as if Microsoft were on the long road ahead and Google jumped to hyperdrive, avoiding roads altogether. Stop pretending that AT&T isn't on board. AT&T owns a big chuck of Clearwire and Android is about the < 1Ghz spectrum Clearwire and WiMAX is all about. iPhone is a place holder in the 2.5 Ghz realm. The < 1 Ghz spectrum represents the dot commons and the greatest economic engine of all time for the USA. Oh and possibly Italy. Lots of broadband wireless TV in Italy. England is so off as a culture that it hasn't a chance of nationalizing the spectrum necessary. WiMax - its our digital democracy.

"Mr. Rubin, who is 44 years old and is a veteran Silicon Valley designer, said the software system that Google has designed is based on the Linux operating system and Sun Microsystems? Java language. It is designed so programmers can easily build applications that connect to independent Web services."

Wind River - the company that brought mars the Unix land rover is involved. Any chimp could see this. We have discussed it many times here on Sdnet. So stop giving hope to the lesser technology folks. The sooner they are assimilated into the Linux/Java world the better for all. No wonder SUN now goes under the stock symbol JAVA.
