Utter Rubbish
The European ruling is nothing more than a ruling on points of relevant European law, which empowers the European anti trust authorities to compel ANY monopoly, in ANY industry, to make it possible for competitors to compete. That's it.

Jeremy Allison and the SaMBa team were able to demonstrate that there are potential competitors to Microsoft who can't compete, because they are being locked out of the market by Microsoft's business activities.

The EU simply ruled that Microsoft by nature of the fact that it is a monopoly, was clearly using it's monopoly position to block competitors, and as such is in breach of EU requirements that not do so. The fact that the majority of people may have chosen (although when there is no choice, was a choice made?) to use Microsoft Windows is irrelevant to what Microsoft, or ANY other monopoly, is required to do under EU law.
