Google = Evil Empire
Hopefully there are enough people out there with their eyes open to stop the merger. If they can't see how horrible Google is when it comes to privacy now, then they are delusional.

Moreover, this 'opt-out' nonsense needs to be changed to 'opt-in'. I don't know a single person that is sick and tired of being bombarded with unsolicited junk via e-mail, web advertising, phone calls, snail mail or whatever. Someone needs to but some boundaries around companies like Google that make their fortunes from advertisers.

I challenge anyone to turn on the 'prompt for cookies' and visit Google or a Google advertisers sites. The number of cookies you get prompted about are so overwhelming you can't help but turn 'enable' back on. Thanks Google but no thanks. I'll stick with yahoo, alta-vista, dogpile, live or any other search provider until the day comes that Google is scrutized just a little bit more on their business practices.
