It is so cute when you pretend that you have any control.
Here is the deal: companies have piles of information on you, much of which you released through anything from shopping, browsing or searching for contents on the Web/Internet, using Windows, etc. All this information can (and is) used to build profiles that can be used to track you or as part of demographics. You are too small to do anything about it. Privacy is a myth created before we had computers, databases, cameras, investigators, credit card companies, etc.
