How many people actually bother with that? Going forward, beyond the initial "ability" to be able to do so, how many people will continue to do so?

Downloads account for a minuscule portion of NBC's revenue that it would seem likely that by far, the vast majority of people who watch television have no need for downloading their favorite shows.

If, as you say, "A-la-carte, on-demand programming is the future" (with which I agree) then in the future it will be primarily conducted via the television not thru downlaoding to a computer or iPod like device.

Remeber: Apple is not a content provider (as in creating the music or programs) they are a distributer, nothing more.
