Sites are not free
It costs money to host and broadcast video - lots of money. Before Google bought YouTube they were losing 1 mill a month. If users want this resource to continue they must expect some form of advertising. If there are users who don't want to see advertising then YouTube should offer a subscription service which is advertising free.
