What killed the deal for me years ago...
... was how it tried to totally take over multimedia functions of your machine.

It automatically set itself as the default player for every media format on your PC, and if you changed them back to your original default applications, it would change them all back the next time you used RP. And after every update. Without asking.

Then it put RP icons on the desktop, in the system tray, the quick start menu, the start menu, and the context menu of every right click.

And it loaded that godforesaken "RealPlayer News" thing in your system tray that did nothing but serve up ads for other Real products. And you couldn't turn it off.

Actually you COULD turn it off by using one method, which was how I eventually turned it off: I uninstalled RealPlayer and promised myself to never EVER use it again.
