I agree with you...
BitTwiddler, as you stated "... This whole mine Mine MINE! thing ..." is the reason
years ago my family stopped purchasing music thus putting our money into the
bank account for other forms of entertainment. Truly we don't miss purchasing
music; we now have more money and enjoying other activities. Prior to that we
had spent a lot of money on music so we do have a nice collection of music that
we hardly ever listen to; listen to a song a few times it's back on the shelf and
forgotten. If we desire music we turn on the radio.

Many times I'd like to sing along with a song but neither remember nor
understand what the singer is singing, so I go to a website for the words. I'm not
stealing their song, not reproducing it, I'm just wanting to know their words.

As I see it the song writer says; "unless you purchase my song you cannot find my
words ". How does that fly when a song is played on the radio and you're able to
actually understand the words then sing along; is that copyright infringement as
well? Should one have to purchase the song to sing along? Yes I know silly stupid
question.

If a song writer doesn't want others to know the words to their song they
shouldn't write it. Why should the music industry be compensated in perpetuity.
Let's say I build a hammer then sell it, I'll get paid. However, I don't get paid each
time the hammer is used, loaned to a neighbor or resold. Workers get paid once
for their work plus they do more for society than the music industry. Should a
road builder demand payment everytime someone drives on the road they built,
should a construction worker demand payment everytime we walk into their
building? The list goes on.
