She's right though

29,000 people were kicked off MySpace because they were discovered to be sex offenders. Most sex offenders are labeled as such because they committed their crimes against children. She should be super vigilant about this if she wants to remain a non-statistic.

You have every right to do social networking, and she didn't say that you didn't. What she asked, quite specifically was "Why are they trying to add me?" And I ask the same question. My father says something quite interesting about girls my age. He says "You all may be nice to look at, but 10 minutes into a conversation and I can't take any more." Networking with your peers is one thing, but being 50+ and trying to make friends with teenagers is a red flag.

Good for her for being so vocal about the "icky old guy." Not all "old guys" are icky, but those that are out to "make friends" with 17 year olds, well, "icky" is a perfect word to describe them, because they are perverted. Period. There's nothing that they could possibly have in common of any substance, therefore, pervs.

Don't get so offended. She wasn't bashing you, unless you're one of the pervs that feels the need to harass the teenagers. She has more than a point.
