Industry preys on the naive
You sould surprised that the record company took advantage of an artist. Of course they did. They want to make as much money as possible with as little work. They take a naive artist and then take advantage of them. The artist is also to blame because they should get good representation and not spend money they don't have. You can be sure that many of the artists you see on MTV cribs with the fancy cars and houses will be poor in 10 years.

I too have not purchased a CD in many years. So much of the music nowadays is formulaic. Other is just not to my taste. What's even worse is that the record companies want you to pay the same amount of money to buy an inferior MP3 version of a CD as you would for the superior sounding CD.
