Wanted Bandits Cyper or Otherwise; Withing Government or Outside

I think England is seeing loss of public confidence in the government and its form of democracy rather than "economically disastrous" loss of public confidence in the Internet. Lets educate our young democracies.

I encourage ZdNet.com USA to open up dialog with Zdnet EU. The time has come. Lets try a joint forum. First an ice breaker - a little US history.

The American Party is an old party that existed during the time of the Wig Party. The eventual US President Lincoln undid the American Party with logic.

At that time politicians who could keep the topic of slavery from dominating discussion were rewarded like today's politicians who can keep the topic of multi-national corporate influence over government officials from dominating discussion. (they are rewarded with bribes, campaign contributions, and plumb jobs both in government and in the private sector)

Lincoln's Republican party decided to take the topic of slavery on directly. The American Party met in lodges where closed door sessions were the norm and there was reluctance to speak out in public on any topic let alone the big one slavery.

As it turns out the American Party was anti-slavery but they were also anti-EU immigration - in particular immigration from Germany and Ireland which were viewed as sources of Catholics as of course so was Spain.

Lincoln pointed out that it made little sense to degrade white European immigrants while trying to better the lot of black slaves and eventually the American Party merged into Lincoln's Republican Party.

My point is that society does not advance economically by holding on to notions that government protects citizens when government can not keep the influence of mobsters out. A second point is that the USA is at least 100 years ahead of our lesser democracy brothers. Those brothers should prepare to follow for now. It is a Web 2.0 world now.
