Would these be the same people ...?
"You can't just rely on individuals to take responsibility for their own security," said committee chairman Alec Broers. "They will always be outfoxed by the bad guys."

These individuals who can't take responsibility for themselves, would these be the same people who couldn't be relied upon to plan for their own retirement, thus bringing us the government failure called "Social Security"? Would they be the same people who couldn't be relied upon to see to their children's education, thus bringing us the crime-ridden, low performing Government Schools? Maybe they're the same people who couldn't be relied upon to budget for their health care needs, thus bringing us the federal manipulation of that industry causing soaring costs. No, I've got it, they're the people who couldn't be relied upon to ingest only politically-correct drugs, thus bringing us the debacle called the "War on Drugs".

Yep, sure looks to me like what we need is more government intervention into our lives. That'll fix everything, I'm sure!
