same old song and dance: If you are publishing a blog for a site to make money, then you are losing something, but if you are blogging for yourself then you are gaining something -- notoriety, with the hope that one day you will become powerful enough to get a job for a site to make money. It's a chicken and egg proposition. Blog and don't get read and your opinions don't count, blog and get widely read, but don't get anything for it (aside from respect)and you feel cheated.

Fine artists have been living with this for a long time, many have been plagiarized, ignored, and worse. As in any art, you do it for the love of the genre, not necessarily the reward. Expecting to monetize every moment of your existence is unrealistic. It would be nice if mechanisms were in place to deal with the problem, and you could decide your comfort level.; Posted by: christopher@...
