Reasonable assumption of attempt to influence the stock price
I agree. Because he's a CEO, we have to assume that his pupose in posting may have been to influence the stock prices of the two companies in preparation for the deal. The fact that it was anonymous actually supports that assumption. Martha Stewart got in trouble for coming out with public statements, so maybe he thought he'd be sneakier.

On the other hand, the actual influence was probably negligible. My usual reaction to any of those stock forums like on Motley Fool is that occasionally there's information I might consider interesting or useful, but most of the time it's like The Dude said: "Yeah well, that's just, ya know, like, your opinion, man."

Moral: He would have been safer on a forum talking about his kinky sexual preferences...
