Yep, you keep singing. This has nothing to do with the green screen text
interfaces to mainframes where there were no choices, all provided by the local IT department.

With web applications, it is not text, you get a GUI, and, you can choose applications just like with the fat client model. You have 1000x the back-end processing power, 1000x storage, 1000x the bandwidth of the green screen mainframe days. You can also have applications that leverage terabytes of back-end data and gigaflops of processing power. As bandwidth, storage, processing power fall, at the same time everything getting more reliable, redundant network connections, redundant data centers, etc, it is just a matter of time.

Right now the salesforce.com model is taking off and has been copied by Microsoft.
