Minimizing copyright violation is easy
YouTube can use credit card validation in the same fashion PayPal does to attach an identity to users who upload videos. Any lawsuits can be deflected on the liable party. Their massive user base has been hugely assisted by the dissemination of copyright-protected material and they should pay out to the copyright holders accordingly.
