Never Been Done
Once you've lost it, no matter how big it was, you can never get it back.
From the dawn of computing when NCR fired some people who went onto create IBM, once momentum has been lost the "has been" never gets its crown back.
Just a few names: CP/M, WordStar, Apple, Novell, Borland (what the hell happened to Borland?), DEC (remember them?), WordPerfect, Lotus. I am sure readers will have loads more.
Jobs was the creator brought back to rescue his baby. Failed first time and was sacked again. Second time round abandoned Apple computers and built Apple the music publisher. Now he's into phones. This is the pattern. You need a new Humpty; you can never mend the broken one.
