IE is not a standard
IE is as proprietary as software can get. IE 5 for Mac was fairly compliant standard
back a few years ago, but at the same time Microsoft developed that they
developed IE 6 for Windows which was not compliant standard and used the
wonderful technology, "Active X", Active X was used by a number of ignorant Web
developers, sometimes on major web sites or even on cable and satellite
technologies to exclude non-Windows platforms. Well this same technology is
responsible for hundreds, maybe thousands of different security problems and
Microsoft pretty much ditched it in IE 7 which is more like Firefox. There are still IE
only web sites but with the popularity of Safari and Firefox, people can't as readily
exclude other whole computing platforms.

The current version of Safari for Windows is Beta. It will get better. On Mac only
Safari has 7% of the total browser market. If it makes a small dent on the windows
side it will get good enough numbers to encourage standards based development
which is what Apple wants because Safari is what will run on the iPhone. Also, if
Windows people download Safari, run it a little and get used to it, then they're half
way to using an iPhone. The other half will include money exchanging hands.
That's what Apple, ATT, Microsoft and every other American corporation is about.
