This author doesn't get it. "new pipelines for information leakage and corporate compliance violations" what the?

Lets put this into perspective. When Times Magazine selected its person of the year it marked the end of the good-old-boy way of doing business. Today's US work force is dominated by those under 30 and this generation is wired and strongly supported by networks of family and friends. If the employer doesn't wire them the employees will come wired with iPhone's and they get to use them at breaks and lunch and even legally during work hours when it doesn't impact their work in the USA.

So what does that mean. It means when an employee sees bad behavior, discrimination, potential illegality, Enron style ethics, side dealing, etc that the employee is likely to be discussing it on a blog almost in real time. The employer's behavior becomes a trail that can not be covered up or shredded. The Web 2.0 employee becomes Freedom 2.0 fighter. It is a beautiful thing.

What is the solution for an employer that intends to preserve the wrong-doing ways of the past? I am afraid it is to relocate in a country that is less tolerant of the American Way, a dictatorship kind of country. A country where speaking ill of "the man" lands you in jail. That is not the USA.

Want to reduce risks in the USA. Treat folks fairly. Obey the laws of the land and don't worry about technology so much. If an employee wants to goof off or do harm they will find a way without technology. Does anyone really disagree?
