Subscription has it's uses
The way I see it subscription is much like subscribing to say satalite radio. I don't see renting as bad thing. Most stuff I rent is stuff I don't want to buy. In my case it's movies. Many movies I rent to see if they are worth buying and most aren't. I'd pay a subscription to be able to rent any movie at any time for 1 monthly fee. This works for music too. Personally though if I'm going to subscribe to something I'd probably pick Satalite radio before an online service as it works better for me. Still the online service has it's benifits in that I can sample lots of music and buy what I like.
