You cant compare this to malpractice
You have two variables.. the doctor and the patient.

Police have their partner and them, maybe a camera and a law book.

We ( IT FOLKS ) have many different kinds of software, running on different types of machines and OS's. We have to deal with customized settings per users many times. We may not be able to deploy something asked for by management because it interferes with other equipment and on top of all of this.. we have to deal with management changing their mind all the time or the CFO pulling the purse strings. The biggest problem i run into is the knowledge gap. IT People have to explain things that can have many different variables in way that will not confuse nor lose point. This requires above average skills in both technology and english(Reading Comphrehension/Writing).
