Paying off the DEBT?!? What A JOKE!!!
Aside from the fact that almost ALL of the taxes being considered would go to state and local governments, our federal government won't be paying off the national debt until national bankruptcy occurs and it has NO OTHER CHOICE.

Does ANYONE HERE remember when a certain president came into office a little more than 6 years ago, and we had -- for the first time in several DECADES -- a projected tax SURPLUS of SEVERAL HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS??? At that time we also had a national debt of several TRILLION DOLLARS, yet rather than dedicated A SINGLE DOLLAR of this "projected surplus" to paying off the national debt, said Mr. President pushed through major income tax cuts for "everyone who pays taxes" (which of course meant a lot more for the wealthy than for the middle class than poor, since they paid more taxes to start with)... Then, when the "projected surplus" never materialized because the economy went sour, we still had lower tax revenues and subsequently an even BIGGER deficit and LARGER national debt... And then add to that a big war we're still paying for, and now our national debt is up somewhere around... what? $10 trillion?

There's NO WAY to pay this off at present... the debt WILL come due, but future generations will end up paying for it, although I have NO IDEA how... "Internet taxes" CERTAINLY will have little or nothing to do with it.
