Why does it matter how long newspapers have been around? It doesn't. Top hats were popular for a lot longer period than Google's existence. I don't see anyone wearing them today.

Regarding your other point, if Google's gonna have to pay newspapers as you say, then so are your gods at MSN. That MSN search engine is indexing newspaper sites everyday. How is it different than Google, Mr. MS fanboy? It's just easier to find on Google that's all.
