Your logic doesn't work for me
It's highly unlikely that anyone is going to get their name in headlines because they are on the sex offenders list AND have a MySpace account. There's not enough sensationalism to be had there, and that's what the news organizations (especially TV) are all about. If, however, there was proof that said person was trolling online for new child victims, that's another story, and that hardly makes them innocent.

Any AG worth his salt wouldn't just rely on the fact that a MySpace customer's name also appears on Sentinel Safe's list - they will also cross-reference court records to verify prior convictions before spending resources on further investigations. (Not doing so, and thus wasting tax dollars, would be a huge political blunder on their part, and that would most certainly make the news, thereby clearing the name of the innocent life to which you refer.)

You're right that innocent lives can be ruined by having their names and faces in the news, but that kind of thing already happens - I'm sure there is a percentage, however small, of people arrested for offending child predator laws who are truly innocent. God forbid that I might be one of them, but I'm willing to take that chance to protect the innocent lives of my children, stepchildren, and grandchildren.

Further making me willing to accept the AG/MySpace agreement is the realization that I have a much less chance of being mistakenly arrested as a child predator within my lifetime than that I'll be killed in an auto accident on my way home from work this very evening.
