- No offense, but I will continue to disagree with you and Mahegan

We're depending on sex offenders to be honest about their physical addresses, and it's already been proven that many are far less than truthful about that. Does that mean the current residency laws, as they pertain to proximity to schools, should be removed from the books?
It's true, we can't catch them all. I'm not arguing that. However, why can't we use whatever tools available to us to protect our children? Our children!
Like you, I personally have more email accounts than I can count, and there isn't a single person outside of myself who knows them all. (As for your email accounts you've forgotten about, I'd be willing to bet that any authority would forgive you for not listing them, considering that you no longer use them.)
I will admit that I erred in lumping all sex offenders into a stereotype, but as you said, hormones and emotions can make many people behave outside their norms, and without thinking it through.
I still stand by my argument that anything done to search for known, convicted sexual predators on public forums (such as MySpace) is within the law. This does not include searching the homes, personal (as opposed to public) writings, or computers of those offenders, unless they are still on probation, or are reasonably suspected of further criminal activity.
For the record, I believe that if a sex offender has a MySpace account, and is using it for purposes other than attracting potential victims, there is no reason they shouldn't be allowed to continue maintaining their sites - with proper monitoring by officials. It is, after all, a public forum. If they do or post something suspect, then other methods can be used to collect further evidence for prosecution. In other words, I disagree with MySpace's apparent habit of deleting the accounts of ALL sex offenders, irrelevant of their content or habits. - Posted by: Zeppo9191 Posted on: 05/21/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
