i disagree completely.

IMHO, this is FUD, because you're projecting what the AGs MIGHT do if/when they realize they can't get all the sex offenders using MySpace. You're right - yours is a 'thin edge of the wedge' argument, but by any other label, it's still FUD to me.

As I stated before, I sincerely doubt the AGs are deluded enough to believe they can catch all criminals. Even by their own admission (though not in this article), they can't even successfully stop all sex offenders from living near schools. However, those laws exist, and they do their best to keep them from living too near where so many children congregate.

If, by your model, the lawmakers were to realize the current residency laws were inadequate, the next step would be to enact laws stating that these offenders can't live within the confines of the United States. Anybody with any amount of common sense would tell you and I that such a law would never fly.

The system isn't perfect, and the AGs know it. They do the best with what they have, and turning a blind eye to the offender's latest predatory tactics definitely doesn't fall under that mindset.
