Missing the point
You are missing the point. The intersection of the list of offenders and the list of myspace users is going to be small. Even if offenders are required to register their email addresses, it still depends on them being honest about it. And when someone is on the prowl, they are not honest anyway.

I don't know about what offenders have, but I have close to 10 different email addresses, 8 of which NOBODY knows about, and 4 of which I have forgotten and if told to register them, couldn't. An offender can park near a WiFi hotspot with a signal booster and a gateway that can spoof any NIC address and access the net where NOBODY knows that they are doing it. It is impossible to police the internet, as China has discovered.

I have worked with sex offenders, and the statement that they are all morons is a common stereotype that is not true. I would say that a good 15-20% of them are close to genius level. Don?t forget that a sex offender offends out of loneliness and/or emotional distress, not out of stupidity. What they do is stupid, that doesn't make them stupid. Also the fact that a lot of them offend using the net makes them pretty good on computers.

If a sex offender gets caught by using registered email addresses and or IP addresses, it means that they ARE stupid and just clears the way for the other 80%. The idiots (yes - I am talking to the attorney general) who get rid of the obvious offenders scare me, they don't know what they are doing and make it more difficult for the police to do their true work.
