Political Appointees and Civil Servents
It use to be standard practice for political appointees (those given management positions in government by elected officials) to fire entire departments. This was more often the rule than the exception because the elected official often wanted to reward those who helped him/her get elected with jobs.

This resulted in harm to not only the organization but also the tax payers who footed the bill for re-inventing government every time republicans took over from democrats and visa versa.

This fired federal worker needs a mySpace page. There has to be more to this story. I am guessing he is a political operative. IE an advocate for something like shutting down a war.

We do not advance as a society when ones job is threatened by simply discussing the issues of the day.

Thought provoking article. A follow up is warrented.
