Viewing YouTube as a pawn shop
Why would a store owner "police his store" for stolen goods? Each person who sells goods to him for resale have agreed to a contract that sorts those details like point of origin, manufacturer, method of delivery, etc, etc, etc.

But ultimately it ends up sitting on the owner's shelf.

The owner of a pawn shop can get arrested for receiving stolen property. He can't just say, "I didn't know", so then why should YouTube be any different?

The owner of the pawn shop shouldn't have to be responsible for researching if an item he is receiving is stolen or not, right?
But he is.

Youtube works in much the same way: the general public "brings in" the items to be displayed on YouTubes site, Hopefully where both parties involved will profit from it.
