I look at it differently
When I got my google account it was by an invitation. In theory & perhaps in practice also each and every google account can be traced back for real identity of the account holder. Not so with Yahoo or Hotmail. In this situation I would be extremely wary of opening any mail from either a hotmail or a yahoo account. In fact I blackballed all such free mail services where one can create any number of identities on line. They are simply not to be trusted.

This transforms into trust for anything that is offered by Google. So google gets my business - eyeball or whatever you call it. I have convinced at least about 20 people to switch to google from other free mail service providers.
