You's Get What You Deserve-You's Get What You Pay For
I've been using Turbo Tax for almost 10 years and I was a happy customer until this past Monday night.

Okay, granted like so many American who owe, we will wait till the last minute to file because the tax laws get more an more complicated every year. Listen, I love my country but I can't trust my government to pull a fast one every year on us.

I have a complicated tax form every year due to several businesses I operate and this year owed to Uncle George and Cousin Ah-nold. I had several other projects going on at the same time and finally got it together on Sunday night.

I looked on the Turbo Tax to find out where I can pay with a credit card. They only accepted debit card or electronic banking. Yet, the government accepts them as a form of payment and I was pre-authorized to do with my credit card company. Because of the time zone difference, I could only use the automated payment service while I was on hold with Intuit for almost 4-1/2 hours!

The service gave me a confirmation number but I needed some kind of form to send in with my taxes as proof of payment.

After waiting 4-1/2 hours, an service rep comes on and he can't figure why I can't pay with a credit card. I step it up a notch and get a supervisor. Even he can't figure out why I can't pay with a credit card or get some kind of form to print out and mail with my return.

Then it hits me. "By the way, what country am I calling?"

"The Phillippines, sir."

That made my blood boil. We are dealing with a United States tax issue and software that deals with a United States personal issue. So why is it that Intuit decided to offshore their technical and customer service departments halfway around the world?

I immediately canceled my account with Intuit and also a refund on my software. And he couldn't understand what an RMA number was. Return Merchandise Authorization.

Monday morning, I call the credit card tax payment center and they issue me a Word attachment through email. Download, save it, print and attach with my taxes to be mailed.

Now, I read this about Intuit's servers. I'm laughing. They got what they deserve and unfortunately at the expense of several million taxpayers. I got what I deserve and that was taking for granted that a software company couldn't provide the service I expected without doing further research.

Goodbye, Intuit. My money will go elsewhere.
