School should not have suspended the student
This incident was between the person who happens to be the principal of the school and several young men who happen to be students. The students postings do not constitute commentary or opinion on how the school is operated; but are personal attacks on the principal. As such, they are not protected speech. And the principal has the right to take them to court over it. He, and the school, do NOT have the right to take action on behalf of the school against them unless the posting were done on school time or using school resources.

Having been in an environment where the mere appearence of sexual impropriety is considered a felony offense; I have a far greater appreciation of the adverse consequences to a career and life than those who might think that the principal is being too sensitive about the whole thing.
