the students were stupid, went into the realm of actions that if a newspaper or show did it would result in a lawsuit as well.

On the surface, it seems that the kids could have seriously damaged the current and future prospects of the principal, much like a school board person in mideastern state was pressured/forced to leave their position for a real social network profile with explicit content when it was discovered. Smoke, fire, fired.

Students, stunts like this garner little damage in their prospects for future employment, though in their academic records, it truly reflects they committed a grievous act, one that their neigbhors and you wouldn't want done to yourself.

What level of response would said students parents want? What do they think is a fitting punishment? Did they take away their internet privileges and PS2s and give them a time-out? Oh well, that makes it better for all. No harm no foul. Crisis over. Their kids are ready to be the next senators and doctors.
