Douglas You are Wrong
The population of the entire world is fascinated with the taking down of MS. The story started in Seattle with the police riots at the World Trade Organization meeting where Bill Gates was co-chair. I suspect you did not know that as many do not.

This is the story of back room dealing often described as Skull and Bones or as Ivy League. Today it is best known by the granting of honorary degrees to known terrorists as well as to Bill Gates. It has always been the story of pirates who after amassing wealth then purchased knighthoods - as has Bill Gates. This is the story of the mentality that created the greatest world trade economy of all times - not today - the economy based on the slave trade where American, French, Spanish, Danish, and English all benefited. It is a great and important continuation of that sad story. The rich and powerful fear the open discussion that is now a right of the general computer user population. We must never tire of this story. Times Person of the Year - the anti-Gates. The You. The You Tube. Get with the program.

Now a comment on the article. Web OS is a new term for me. But I see something to it. Rather than one Web OS however, I think we have many many OS's on the Web now.

Take VMware and create a virtual machine. Load that old software, games, graphic tools, whatever. Place the file on your disk space at your service provider (say clearwire). Now you have mobile access to all your applications from any device that runs VM client.

Or go a different route. Keep your old machine and purchase a GotoMyPc subscription. Now you have the same capability.

I kind of see Web OS as an outgrowth of Napster - peer to peer - computing where the idea was to share tunes. Napster got taken down on ownership issues. Web OS need not address that because the two examples given above assume that the computer user owns or has owner permission to use the assets which were already purchased.
