for good men to do nothing
Exactly but should those good men be forced to make the right choices. I thought living in a free country meant you had freedom of choice! So should the goverment be alowed to make personal choices for you.
I guess that depends on how much you value your freedom. If you want to live in a free country there are going to be risk's involved. No one ever said living in a free country guarantied your personal safety. The problem is people want to believe they are living in a free country, what they don't realize is they are slowly turning it into a police state. I never said that the individual did not have a moral obligation. It's up to you to move into an area or surround yourself with people you feel will do the right thing. Where I live if my neighbor saw my wife or I in trouble like that he would come out with a shotgun first then Call 911 to come over and pick up the criminals body.
But that's his choice! the government should not be able to mandate that he do so. Unfortunately we now live in a weak, scared society that expect to be protected from every conceivable threat.
My wife and I both have concealed weapons permits and my son has 10 years of martial art's under his belt. we takes steps to protect ourselves and don't expect anyone else to do it for us. The right to protect yourself is part of what living in a free country is about!
