Duh!
What is interestingly missing from this report is that ICANN actually approved .xxx
in 2005 (news.com.com/Porn-friendly+.xxx+domains+approved/
2100-1030_3-5728713.html) but was forced to reverse it by the politicos that
feared that this would promote pornography. How ridiculous. As has already been
stated, pornography is with us. Period. As a parent it would be so refreshing to be
able to blanketly ban .xxx from my children's computers. In stead, not only am I
vigilant in reviewing their access logs, but apply multiple other methods of web
monitoring.

The argument has been made that how does one enforce the registration of .xxx
domain? It has also been stated that localities would force the registration of sites
as .xxx for sites regarding homosexuality or nude art. What is porn? As I
understand it, .xxx was not being proposed as a mandatory registration but as a
voluntary registration. If you you are a pornography site, you would want
a .xxx domain. Without it, you would not be 'legitimized' as a true porn site. The
pornography industry has a vested interest in agreeing to .xxx and voluntarily
registering. With it, a pornographer can say that they have made dramatic steps in
protecting children. The problem would then be in the hands of parents. And
rightfully so.
