Public acts can, and do, affect your job.
Anyone hear of someone getting fired because they caused a major ruckus outside of work? Well, I have. Try "Michele Curay-Cramer v. Ursuline Academy, et al.". Your "First Amendment Rights" only apply to the government, not to non-government organizations. A company, generally, has the right to hire and fire at will, sans any collective bargaining or other contract to the contrary. There are only a handful of reasons that they cannot use to refuse to hire you or to use to fire you. Those things are your age, gender, religious affiliation (but not always), and/or sexual orientation. However, if you make it a habit of going out each night and getting falling-down drunk while wearing your company's uniform, you could be dismissed for your public actions.

Therefore, stating that a company could be sued because they refused to hire a self-professed bigot, alcoholic, druggie, or whatever, please review your basic employment law. They can refuse to hire you for anything they so desire, as long as it does not violate the EEOC guidelines. That includes you posting that you like to paint your toenails and wear women's underware.
